River Road’s Independent Value Strategy is lead by Eric K. Cinnamond, CFA, former Lead Portfolio Manager of Intrepid Capital Management’s Small Cap Strategy. The Independent Value Strategy utilizes a fundamentally driven research process to identify high quality, smaller cap companies trading at an attractive discount. The Strategy seeks to invest in mature companies that have a leading balance sheet, high free cash flow yield, and limited operational or financial risk. Portfolio construction decisions are based on the ability to value these companies with a high degree of confidence.
While security selection has been the main contributor to performance, the ability to hold cash allows for the flexibility and patience that are essential to our opportunistic approach.
